Pupils Of The Clock - TIMELESS review

Lazy Eyez and Tok come together to bring you a compendium of observant and open tracks, that stoke the fires in the boiler room of your soul. Something truly original just sprouted from the rolling green hills of the South West, and is clearly here to stay a part of that landscape, going by the name; TIMELESS!

Sharing epiphanies and understandings they've built over their journeys in this underground scene, the Pupils Of The Clock deliver an earnest and honest reflection of their experiences of people and places. Going deep into the feelings that drive the actions we see, from the egocentric moments to most open and selfless motions, you can bet you will relate to all the topics covered, whether the lyrics describe yourself or someone else you know. Lazy Eyez and Tok are masters of picturesque writing, twisting continuous flows that can cruise miles with lyrical work to fill your mind with images of sun-soaked camping sites, backstage blues, frozen high streets and cluttered desks. These tracks will teleport you to moments at festivals where you went a little too far on a substance, or that moment of a healthy high when you pull off that trick making the past year's grafting all worth it, while still packing plenty of messages and undertones that leave you curious.

The instrumentals are as delicate and detailed as you would expect a small Watch to be. There is energy and drive in every track without the need for reckless thumps and earth-shattering subs. Bringing something different to the scene with material that seems to bring the listeners to an attentive sense of sonder, rather than the punch-drunk aggression or lucid mind-melters of the underground scene. Don't get me wrong, I love a serrated sound that makes me feel mashed, but it's refreshing to hear an approach like this. The most interesting part? Every track comes from a different producer. So it's a hand-picked selection of beats just right for this album, coming from a massive variety of talent. The Pupils simply throw their lyrics in and bring it all together as one.

TIMELESS is an album for reflection, an auditory exercise in paying attention to the world around you and how you're contributing to it. It encourages you to put your effort in, and understand that we all get fed up and stressed sometimes, and that a virtue lies in accepting that in yourself and others. It tells you to take a minute to stop and think about how you will approach the next minute, and that if done right, your impact can be timeless.
